First Flight Info

It is a good idea to PRINT THIS PAGE and bring it with you on the day of your flight.

The information below applies to Camden glider flights. Central Coast Gliding Club information is here

If you have a Gift Certificate for a flight, please be sure to double check which organisation issued the voucher before you book a flight.

What to Bring – You will need to bring water, sunscreen, sunglasses and a floppy hat or cap that you can wear a headset over. You may be out in the sun for an hour or more so long sleeved lightweight shirts are recommended. Be sure to bring your camera also!

Camden is about 1 1/4 hour’s drive from both the Sydney CBD and from Wollongong in light traffic. Please allow extra if you expect heavier traffic

Directions

– The entrance to Camden Airport is off Macquarie Grove Rd, Camden, just 1.5 km north of Camden township. The entrance is clearly signposted.
– Continue along the airport entrance road over several speed humps until after the last speed hump near the first hangars.  Here you will see a ‘Gliders’ sign.
– From here you stay to the left at all times and keep following the perimeter road for about a kilometre. Go all the way around the grass runways to the south western side of the field. If you see gliders parked on the runways, you can stop and ask for information. If there are no gliders on the grass runways keep driving until the road runs out and you can not go any further.

– Near the end of the road are are a number of hangars. Park in the car park at the end of the road but do not cross the fence line until you have attracted the attention of one of the club members.

Please stay in the car park. The grassed areas around the hangars are active taxiways so you must be escorted by a club member!

If you come to any locked gates, please wait at that gate. Toilet facilities are located adjacent the only speed hump that you drove over on the airport entrance road.
